Bob Seger and His Daughter Steal the Spotlight at Detroit Auto Show in Jeeps

Although Bob Seger’s classic hit “Like a Rock” became a signature anthem for Chevrolet trucks, the legendary rock singer showed his true automotive loyalty at the recent Detroit Auto Show — and it turns out, he’s a Jeep man.
The 72-year-old music icon, currently recovering from neck surgery that forced a pause in his concert tour, attended the North American International Auto Show at the Intuit Dome in Detroit. He was joined by his wife and his daughter Samantha, a college student in Michigan — who, like her father, is also a fan of Jeep vehicles.
The Seger family joined thousands of auto enthusiasts, journalists, and industry insiders roaming the exhibition halls, checking out the latest models, and yes, kicking a few tires along the way.
Not long ago, Seger delivered a high-energy performance at Eastern Michigan University’s Convocation Center. Despite his age, his voice and stage presence impressed fans and critics alike, with many saying he performed like someone in his 40s.
When asked about his health and the possibility of returning to touring, Seger was open. “My neck still hurts,” he said. “If it still hurts by February, then we’ll know. My next neck X-ray is in April.”
In addition to the rock legend’s appearance, the auto show had another unexpected brush with fame — this time from the world of politics. Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow has a surprising entry on her résumé: she once played the governor of Metropolis in the blockbuster film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The 2016 movie, partially filmed in the Detroit metro area, featured Stabenow in a cameo role during a cocktail party scene. Though the role was brief, it’s a quirky example of how real-life figures from Michigan sometimes find themselves in pop culture — without running a campaign or spending a dime.
From celebrity cameos to rock ’n’ roll legends and the latest innovations in the auto industry, this year’s Detroit Auto Show blended local pride, entertainment, and engineering — all under one roof.
