Bovensiepen Unveils High-Performance Gran Turismo with BMW M Power and Zagato Design

In a new era following the sale of Alpina to BMW, the Bovensiepen brothers have taken a bold step by launching a performance car under their own name. Debuting at the Concorso d’Eleganza, their first creation is a handcrafted Gran Turismo that blends BMW M4 technology with a distinctive design by the renowned Italian design house Zagato.
Unique Design with Italian Influence
The vehicle’s exterior, developed in partnership with Milan-based Zagato, draws visual inspiration from BMW’s 4 Series and 8 Series coupés. However, it clearly establishes its own identity. Gone is the iconic BMW kidney grille, replaced by a black metal mesh that sits between headlights reminiscent of Peugeot styling. The new grille, shaped somewhat like a stylised clown’s mouth, sets the tone for the car’s independent character.
Every aspect of the design has been carefully detailed to deliver a bespoke aesthetic. The car was entirely built by hand at the Bovensiepen workshop in Buchloe, with each unit requiring over 250 hours of craftsmanship to complete.
Size Suggests 8 Series DNA
At 4.94 metres long, the Gran Turismo is larger than a BMW 4 Series Coupé and even surpasses the 8 Series Coupé in length. This suggests the latter was likely used as the base platform, although Bovensiepen has not disclosed the wheelbase. Despite a lightweight carbon-fibre body, the car weighs in at 1,875 kg without a driver—slightly more than the BMW 840i, which uses a 3.0-litre inline-six turbo engine.
Powered by 611 hp BMW M Engine
Under the hood, the Bovensiepen Zagato is driven by a high-performance version of BMW’s S58 turbocharged inline-six engine. The 3.0-litre engine delivers an impressive 611 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque, allowing the coupé to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds. The top speed exceeds 300 km/h, underlining its serious performance credentials.
The suspension features adaptive Bilstein dampers and offers three drive modes—Comfort, Sport, and Sport Plus—giving drivers a choice between relaxed cruising and aggressive handling. The car rides on 20-inch forged alloy wheels with weight-saving cuts in the spokes, subtly reminiscent of classic Alpina wheel designs.

A Bespoke Leather Experience Inside
The interior is just as exclusive as the exterior. Created to customer specification in the Buchloe factory, the cabin is trimmed in hand-stitched Lavalina leather, available in 16 standard shades or customised hues through Bovensiepen’s bespoke programme. Almost every surface can be finished in leather, with over 130 hours of manual labour dedicated to upholstery alone.
Customers can also opt for Alcantara, available in 45 colour options, to complement the leather. Unique embossing or embroidery is offered for further customisation. Each car is equipped with machined aluminium paddle shifters, a hand-stitched leather steering wheel, and a personalised production number plaque, highlighting its exclusivity.
With this debut, Bovensiepen not only honours the legacy of Alpina but also signals a new chapter—one defined by artistry, performance, and individuality.
